Well mobile friendly is more than just displaying a page properly using a mobile device. Mobile broadband is typically more laggy with longer load times than true broadband such as dsl or cable providers. Also most premium mobile providers start capping or charging extra for 2gb and over of bandwidth usage (in the states anyhow) A Minimum amount of images or providing mobile optimized images goes a long way towards providing a fast user friendly mobile experience and that is just one example to justify ezyuser's question.
