Can the type of ssl certificate affect website performance?

E.G. - could the use of a free Let's Encrypt ssl certificate cause a site run slower than if would have if a paid ssl certificate had been installed instead?

Hello,

The SSL certificate's type doesn't affect the performance of a website at all. Regardless of whether you are using a free Let's Encrypt certificate or a paid one, the website's loading speed will remain the same.
