Payment Method Drupal Commerce

I tried testing out an order with the Paypal module in Drupal Commerce and get the following message after leaving the checkout to paypal sandbox:

Error Detected Your shopping cart is empty.

even though I have items listed in the shopping cart.

anybody know how to solve this issue?
