Last time I hosted my own site on here, it tanked the server and my CPU averages were in the 7-10% range. It turned out the culprit was not only PHP-Nuke but Menalto's Gallery 2.0, and especially the Gallery due to its intensive generation of thumbnails on-the-fly for each and every page view.
Since then, I have been looking into other CMS and other gallery software. One note, however, Menalto's Gallery did get updated with an option to cache thumbnails, plus other features that make Gallery more "shared-server-friendly". But I'm wondering about Coppermine and other gallery options that might offer better performance while retaining some of the razzle-dazzle goodies. The Coppermine community even seems to have its own Nuke flavor, too -- CPGNuke ("Dragonfly"). And then Joomla's ready to pump out their long-awaited Verson 1.5.
Has anyone here experience benchtesting CMS and/or photo album software for performance comparisons?
