php.ini & suPHP_ConfigPath

I set up a new php.ini file but once I add the "suPHP_ConfigPath" ( as indicated here: http://wiki.lunarpages.com/Create_php.ini > suPHP_ConfigPath /home/username/public_html ) replacing the username with the actual, I get a 500 error... any ideas?
