  • Upgrading Clientexec

Upgrading Clientexec can be a nightmare, but it doesn't have to be.

If you are currently using version 3.0 save yourself a lot of trouble and headaches, by not trying to upgrade directly to 3.2. The best thing to do is to do this step by step
    Step One:
Back up your database in a .zip format (don't use .tar or anything else)
Step two(if you are currently using 3.1 go directly to step 4)
After you do this ask the great support staff at cPanel to upload both 3.1 and 3.2 to your system. Of course each in a separate file.
    Step three
After upload has been done open 3.1 and import your database .zip file.
Open this version of clientexec just to check and make sure that your database has been imported correctly.
    Step four
Next is to copy the config.php file in the 3.1 to notepad with the wrap feature shut off.
    Step five
Now go to the 3.2 version and copy and paste the info from your notepad config copy, to the config.php file in 3.2 (at this point the file should be blank.
    Step six
Now go to your browser and open the url for your 3.2 file. http://www.yourdomain.com/your3.2 folder name/install.php
    Installation/upgrade process
You will now have on your screen a form showing two tabs. Install and upgrade. Click on upgrade and on the next page your database information should appear. Continue answering what ever they ask and click finish.
Your upgrade is compete with no database hassles.
(Always backup your files before you do any type of upgrade or changes)
Your clientexec is provided to you through your reseller, so if you do need any major help with it, it is better to have the support at cPanel to fill out a support ticket for you. You can also learn a lot by registering at the forum at Newedge.

Check with your cPanel techs. Our server was at 3.2. The newer verson is 3.21 but you are better off with 3.2 in the beginning.
