For me personally Gmail has the following advantages over other similar free web based services.

I Agree... Gmail is now offering 2GB+infinity mailbox...

It offers large disk space, so you will not need to delete e-mails you may need sometime in the future. It includes an excellent search engine that lets you search through tons of messages in your mailbox easily.

I agree more...yahoo is trying to catch up...they now offer 1GB...with extra baggages...tons of Ads...

I was getting sick with cleaning the measly 2MB of free e-mail space “generously” provided by Hotmail. Microsoft promised 250MB to free Hotmail users, when Google announced their plans to launch Gmail, but I have not seen these 250MB yet and I have grown tired of waiting for them. Perhaps, Microsoft is waiting the official launch of Gmail until they do something.

When did Microsoft offer anything for Free? there is always a catch...to them, everything is about money...not customer...

Question though... Why would you need a free email if you already have a web presence that include email?

But...if anyone is interested...I have 25 gmail invites myself for disposal..

Well I don't like Outook Express or MS Outlook either.

I use incredimail which has a good free version and can be set up similarly but easier than Ouklook to put mail into different folders.

Don't think I need gmail as I have ample email addresses available on both RSP Hosting account and my other hosting account.
Only time I use webmail is when I am on holiday and I am quite happy with the webmail programs on my hosting servers.

Be interesting to see how this gmail goes and whether in fact Yahoo and Microsoft will compete and try to outdo each other.

So thanks for the offer guys but at present I don't really need it.

Can't beat GMail... No offensive ads or spam... better than MSN, Yahoo, HotPop and all the others. I was not aware GMail placed ads in my email. If you don't have a GMail account, get one for shits & giggles.

i know 1 that has no ads and has instant mail reading in 1-2 clicks..
and alerts on new mail. (well yahoo has it to)

and only space limiting depending on the HOST & your HD..

I guess I'm not understanding why this G-Mail would be a good thing. What alternatives would this offer someone? My reason is, I'm already busy enough doing a bunch of other tasks, what is this new thing for? Simple email? I have that already, so what's so special about it? (Just trying to find a reason for it is all)
