  • Anyone here...

Has anyone here their hosting site included in dmoz.org and if so how long did it take and did you see much of an improvment?

    Thanks in advance -Kane

I have not yet had success in this area. I do have a contact at DMOZ who has knowledge of the hosting categories: this person has stated they are not really adding new sites to the hosting category.

They are partnered with AOL so they must be pretty big.

Yea, but AOL probably doesn't have to much say. I personally have never heard about it I have AOL as well and still haven't heard about it. So maybe it is still slightly under reconstruction or redevelopment from some other peoples comments about it as well.

Ok, more education is in order!

DMOZ is the Open Directory Project. It was officially started under the original Netscape Communications Corp's watch as a way to provide useful, filtered Web links to folks. Upon Netscape's acquisition by AOL, of course the ownership of DMOZ was transferred as well. DMOZ operates through the power of volunteer editors, who review submissions and choose which sites to post to the directory. Getting your site listed in DMOZ is a big deal, because Google gives great emphasis to DMOZ-linked sites.

                  Hope that helps!

But it's effective ****! DMOZ is one of the top 1000 most-trafficked Websites in the world.

Not quite. Think of it as a pre-Wikipedia Wikipedia.
