I can't tell you how many times in this forum it has been said (even by myself)...
"You can't expect to make money with that RSP template. You need to design your own site."
But I got to thinking. Even if you design your own site, you still need to include the RSP phone #'s, phone ID, control panel demo link, references to Elefante script installer, etc.
All these things give you away as an RSP reseller (with the phone # alone, if you do a search on a search engine like Yahoo or Google, the search results are flooded with different RSP resellers).
So what is really the point in making your own site as opposed to using a template then, other than the fact that you might fool some people for a minute or 2 until they figure you out? But you can't hide it for very long.

Here are some of the ways to overcome this:-
Don't use the RSP phone no., make your own demo of the control panel, refer elefante as just a script installer.
Don't use the RSP phone no., make your own demo of the control panel, refer elefante as just a script installer.
OK, the your script installer solution was an obvious and viable one.
But what about the others...
- How on earth would one make their own CP demo? Besides, what I'm talking about is that, since RSP uses their own proprietary CP, you can't hide it. Even if you could make your own CP demo, it would still have to be the be the RSP CP so you cannot hide because your CP will be the same CP that other RSP resellers use.
- If you do not use the RSP phone # then you are suggesting offering your own phone support. This is not feasible for the vast majority of RSP resellers, and if we are going to have to offer our own phone support then we may as well get hosting reseller account elsewhere because, to be honest, RSP leaves much to be desired if it were not for the turnkey aspect of it. Do you offer your own phone support?

Now there is a new type of phone no where you can redirect it.
Otherwise, just drop the phone support & stop acting like a big hosting company.

LOL> Just because you have a phone # it doesn't mean you are a big company nor does it mean you are trying to act like one. Having a phone # where you can be reached simply creates trust in your prospective customers and even your current ones. I would never even bother trying to compete in such a saturated market as hosting without a phone #. I'm not saying you have to give tech support over the phone, but pre-sales and sales phone support is certainly a must if you want to look like a non-fly-by-night operation.
Even if you design your own site, you still need to include the RSP phone #'s, phone ID, control panel demo link, references to Elefante script installer, etc.
I just want to note that you are not required to include any of the elements you mention in a custom-built reseller site. You are only required to include the web hosting terms of service.
All these things give you away as an RSP reseller (with the phone # alone, if you do a search on a search engine like Yahoo or Google, the search results are flooded with different RSP resellers).
Regarding the phone number and the phone ID, if you want to include these, you could include these as images instead of text, making it difficult for search engine bots to index them.

You missed the point completely on this issue. It's not about GOogle indexing the phone # on your own site, it's about the fact that googl ehas indexed the phone # on many other RSP sites so if someone comes to my own site, even if my phone # is shown as an image file, when they do a search for the phone #, they will get a whole bunch of other resellers.
So far, no one has been able to debunk my current theory that building your own site instead of using an RSP template is pointless and will not reap you any real benefits for the most part, contrary to what many here believe (and what I used ot believe. Well, you might actually reap some benefit, but it's very little.

Little is better than none to me.
Well this is just my opinion and my stand, I wouldn't bother about yours.
toolsavvy, its not jsut about "tricking" people it's about being able to take pride in your site. I do have my own dedicated server that i pay for each month regradless which I use for my design clients, i have designed my own site to handle RSP hosting for my non design clients, either way as a web designer I couldnt expect people to buy anytinhg from me if my website was one of those templates, no offence to the guys here at RSP but they are aweful if you want to be taken seriously it must look like you are serious about whatt you do, and who googles a telephone number before ringing it??
if you dont care how your sites look (and judgin by the sites in your sig you dont) then use the templates
if you want to be taken seriously and trake pride in your work design your own site, if you cant then you haev no chance of making any moeny
I'm not saying no one should design their own reseller site. I'm just saying that it is not necessary in all cases nor is it detrimental to your success as so many people here claim it is. That's all.
First read and comprehend, then speak/type. Stop making yourself out to be such an ***** around here.
if you dont care how your sites look (and judgin by the sites in your sig you dont) then use the templates
I'm not a web designer, *********, nor do I claim to be one, try to be one or plan on being one, willy****.
But at any rate, I did not design all the sites in my sig and if you had looked better instead of having the intent to just be nasty and defame me in public to look cool (because you are new), you would have realized that as it is obvious. The one site is not even mine, the other just a template I uploaded from an affiliate merchant, and the last is a IFrame with a rotator that does not even contain any of my own sites. Duh.
And no one is talking about confusing or "tricking" people. It's about seamless integration, anonymity and separation (from RSP)
Remember, we are not all looking to be designers who provide hosting. We all have different goals, target markets, etc
and who googles a telephone number before ringing it??
I do all the time when I am researching a company I am doing business with. This is standard practice for those of us that know how to investigate possible scammers and bad companies. But the rest of just say silly things like you just did.

That's a bunch of hogwash. I am already making sales with RSP plans. Are you???? I am not a success (a subjective term, I know) as I have not reached my short term or long term goals yet, but I am on my way there. And I'm doing it with an RSP template.
You really should read, comprehend, and then think before you speak, man.
No offense to Milen, but I was hoping to get some intelligent posters on this thread. So much for that idea. LOL/
I guess I will just keep doing what I do and what works for me and keep certain things to myself. Some people just cannot take different views and marketing plans. they just have a one-track mind.
firstly dont take my post like it was a personal attack...
Huh? It was a TOTAL personal attack (well, at least part of it), you *****!
BTW, get a friggin' spell checker for cryin' out loud!!!!
I see I'm going to have to put you on my ignore list sooner or later. I really wish RSP would require age verification on this forum LOL. Too many teenagers ruining things here.
BTW, looking at the site in your link, I see that you must make tons of sales and get lots of clients with that "site under construction" bit. LOL. And you were making fun of the sites in my sig. LOL. You have some nerve.
it was not a personal attack, and i haven't been a teenager for along time.
I was simply offering my point of view of the matter, or did you expect everyone to just agree with you when you made this thread?
also nice of you to edit your post to include more abuse in my direction after i made my reply to you....
i simply won't bother to use this forum anymore, the same reason i havent used it in the last year i have been a RSP user, some people have nothing better to do than force their views on other with a total inability to respect other people opinions, good luck with your "goals".
BTW, I just want to state for the record that I will, at some point, be making my own site for my RSP sales when and if I decide to keep RSP as my hosting provider. However, the only real reason I will do so is mostly because the text on the homepage and other text cannot be changed in the templates and it is too general, sometimes kind of *****ic, and does not "jive" with my marketing goals and company image. That is one big downside to using the RSP templates.
However, to say that you cannot make ANY sales at all with an RSP template is *****ic and only said by those that just don't know any better. I make sales using an RSP template and I'm sure others do, too. Even if I am the only one, I am proof that it can be done.
Anyway, this thread is pretty much dead as it has been hijacked by the ignorant and immature. I was just trying to make good conversation but I guess that was too much to ask. It would probably be best to lock the thread at this point.
