Is interlinking using tags and categories good for SEO?

Hi,

I have a new site and I can't really use other posts to interlink. I was wondering can I use tags and categories links in a post to interlink? Also, can I use both tags and categories URL on other site to get backlinks. I am not really
sure if sending link juice to tags and categories is a good idea or not.
