In the "About Us" category, there's a new page called "Technology Partners". What's the benefits of showing that? Moreover, how is Skype linked to our services in any way?

Well, showing all those nationally and internationally known brands that your brand is partnered with can't be a bad thing. Makes you look more legit.

    Why does it bug you?

Its means nothing unless You and/or Your company is actually partnered with those business's. Do you have a partnership with any of those brands... are these brands aware of a partnership between you and them?

The Technology Partners are simply companies whose hardware and software we are using. As for Skype, a portion of our communications is carried out through their VoIP software and service.

No, we do not have any formal partnership agreements. This is just a fancy way of displaying the companies on whose products our business relies.

RSP are my business colleagues. They handle a good portion (over 50%) of my hosting company's operations which I solely market and advertise - they do the rest.

Therefore, anyone RSP "partners" with is also indirectly MY "partner" because RSP has a huge hand in my business operations. In fact, RSP is such a huge partner in my business that I would not exist without them. Not too hard to understand, I don't think.

Is it technically "legal" that RSP displays this on our cookie-cutter sites they provide to us??? I have no clue about that, I am not a lawyer in ANY sense of the word. But until it goes to a court of law and is deemed "illegal", I for one like it and it seems illogical and quite *****ic that anyone would question it or not like such a thing. No offense to anyone. It 's just my opinion.

              Toolsavvy ~

That would be like stating that, although you don't belong to the Better Business Bureau, it is ok to suggest that you do and to place BBB logo's on your site [which would be a definite no-no as you would end up on their wall of shame]. Considering that Milen has stated that there really is no partnership, suggesting it implies something that I believe to be a question of ethics. Its one thing to say "we use this, that and the other" but to suggest a partnership that does not exist? Just another reason why I don't use the reseller templates and have handled initial billing and sales made through my custom reseller website. In fact, the domain I use for the private DNS is redirected to my custom site to avoid this issue and, the fact that LiquidNet, Ltd as all over the RP templates [so much for anonymity].

This is just another reason why those at WHT tell everyone "we" are merely "affiliates" earning a commission.

Mac, your logic is flawed and your analogy is misguided. You are comparing and analogizing apples with oranges.

My "partners" (RSP) use certain brands and they consider themselves to be "technological partners" with those brands and therefore there is no reason for me as a RSP reseller to capitalize on that. Business is business. There is nothing immoral about it like there would be in telling people you are a member of the BBB when you are not. Membership in the BBB is easily and undoubtedly provable. The term "technological partner" is not as "cut and dried" and therefore is not really in the same realm. Like I said, unless RSP got sued by these companies and the court ruled that RSP could not use the term "technical partner" nor use the logos without permission, then I would comply as well and not fuss about it. The court rules. BTW, Who said that RSP did not get permission by these companies to do this anyway. I think there are assumptions being made around here for no reason other than to cause a stink for some silly reasons which I will not comment on.

Define "those". I think you will find that "those" are intellectually challenged members of WHT that know very little to nothing about the hosting industry/business.

Yes, the majority of folks at WHT that dog RSP resellers as being merely affiliates but that's only because they are are either ignorant, jealous, and overly-dogmatic/religious about the hosting business, or all of the above. None of these people matter, although they do seem to make up most of the population there at WHT. That's the way it is everywhere. Most of them know nothing about nothing, but they love to espouse their opinions as if they are written rules of life.

The fact is there are people at WHT that actually know the hosting business in and out and they actually do defend RSP with knowledge and intellect. Here is one guy, "Aussie Bob", who explains the type of person I am talking about. "Aussie Bob" is very intelligent when it comes to the web hosting industry and business and I have seen him defend RSP resellers as being real resellers more than once. Here is a link to one of his posts where he intellectually defends RSP resellers as being real resellers and RSP as being a real host...

I believe I have read at least 3 other posts from him that completely and intelligently defend RSP resellers as real hosts/resellers, but you can dig the rest of his posts up yourself as I don't have the time. "Aussie bob" is a reseller himself and he may even own his own servers. But he is NOT an RSP reseller and never was AFAIK. What he IS is an intelligent, successful businessman in the hosting industry. That is evident if you read his posts he's made at WHT.

You will find that those that oppose him are loud-mouths that just love to blab off, destroy other people's reputations, and brag about how great they themselves are as opposed to their competitors.

You have to realize that the majority is rarely ever right yet they have the biggest voice. You have to learn how to let it all fly over your head and seek information from the few, the intelligent, and the knowledgeable.

Don't worry too much about WHT members at large dogging RSP resellers. It should not matter much if they ruin your reputation there - they dog everyone anyhow. The only reason why it should bother you is if you are targeting the members at WHT as your prospects. However, IF WHT members are your target market as a RSP reseller, you are surely engaging in a flawed marketing plan for your RSP reseller business and will die of famine in very little time from lack of sales.

WHT may be the biggest forum on the net for hosting industry, but it is hardly populated with the most intelligent members. By far! No offense to anyone here or anywhere, but that is the case with ALL public forums.

But that's all I have to say about this subject. When I start using a custom template, I will still use that selling point of "technical partnership" until I am ordered by a court to not do so. It's a good way to keep a professional look and feel and there is nothing immoral about it at all.

We will have to agree to disagree, as they say.

Don't confuse ethics with morality... no comparison there. That being said, your still using an RP template so... when you start getting $500+ in renewals and upgrades [in one day] while using the same template as 90% of all RP resellers, let me know. That's all I am going to say on the subject.

Never said $500 in renewals A DAY or $500 in renewals EVERY DAY... please read the post again.

Let me ask you this... there is over $600 in my RP account waiting to be paid and the majority of that was for 1 day... what do you have sitting in your's?

You should probably concentrate on your site instead of sleeping in the RP forums.

You guys are out of topic. Shouldn't we be discussing about the technology partners? Actually I think its quite good to put all those reputable names there as this should boost our reputation among customers.
