  • Selling Domains and Shared Hosting Seperately

I know this might have been asked before, but since it isn't possible to do now, I am wondering if it will be possible to, in the future, for resellers to sell domains and hosting separately. I have had a few potential clients turn me down because they already had hosting and only needed a domain name, but didn't want to buy hosting with the domain name from me (why in the world they should have to buy hosting with their domain name with us resellers when a client already has the hosting for the domain is beyond me).

So I ask if it will be possible in the future to sell domains and hosting separately. This is a feature that I am very much interested in having, just as much as being able to sell VPS and Dedicated Servers, along with monthly billing.

About monthly billing, Dedicated Servers and VPS, I know it's in the works, so don't answer that part. I just want to know if we will be able to sell domains and hosting separately in the future.

    I agree with you.

We should able to offer it.

Although profit much less, but we still able to get some extra.

Some more who guarantee domain owner will not buy our hosting package in future.

Our developers are working on a feature that would allow resellers to sell only domain names without a hosting package, but I do not know when it will be ready.

Glad to hear that,I hope it will implement as soon as possible.
And also if possible, ssl certificate also can be included together (I know rsp already plan to offer it).

Is there some sort of rough estimate from the developers on when it will be?

Nova-Host, there is no time estimate when this feature would be released. If one was available, I would provide it.

I'm guessing this is still under development?

Yes, this option is still in development.

Just get a Domain Name reseller account....

                    iPhone, Nova-Host, wjleong, etc...

Why don't you just get one of the many free reseller accounts available that would enable you to market domain names to your customer?

Am I missing something here? It really is possible to make money reselling domain names without attaching them to hosting accounts. Good heavens GoDaddy is even a reseller. The more you sell the higher percentage profit you realize.

RSP has put together a very easy way to provide your customer hosting and a domain but it is not the only way.

GoDaddy is actually not a reseller. They are an ICANN-accredited registrar. They do, however, offer their own reseller program at wildwestdomains.com.

                        GoDaddy is accredited...

So they are, thanks for putting me straight.

That's true but would just be nice to have everything under one roof.

                            They sure do.
Initial cost is $100.00 (every year) for the basic account, plus the cost of domain name.

You cannot create your own packages. Payment for what you sell does not come out of the $100.00 like a wallet type of thing. The customer pays WildWest and you get a commission. Commission checks are issued every month
(going back two months) $5.00 for minimum payout.
You have to purchase the SSL certificate. (You need this to have the account)

Many of the programs that you or your customers can get free at RSP their is a charge. The only kind of web building program they have is Website tonight and that is a hosting package in itself. The learning curve is not very user friendly.
(Oh yes they do give you a template for your store and you are not able to do many things with it. When you purchase your own hosting, if you take a basic package you won't have .php)
After being with WildWest for almost 4 years in one capacity or another, I swithced to the free RSP and cPanel.

Add me to the list of those that would like the possibility of reselling domain names. Godaddy and Wildwest are not good options unless you are selling a lot of domains which I would probably not do and don't see myself doing anytime in the future.
