  • SC300 down repeatedly

SC300 has been down repeatedly since late June when it went down for more than 12 hours. Sometimes its down for 8 minutes, right now its been down for about 25 minutes and counting.

No news, nothing each time. This is ridiculous.

After the massive outage on the 28th I started using Pingdom to track uptime. It confirms outages with multiple independent locations to rule out that it's a connectivity problem on the checking servers side.
    Code:
    2011/06/29: 1m
    2011/06/30: 56s
    2011/07/05: 1m 2s
    2011/07/06: 3m
    2011/07/09: 16m 59s
    2011/07/10: 2m
    2011/07/11: 3m
    2011/07/14: 37m
    2011/07/18: 4m 7s
    2011/07/19: 2m 25s
    2011/07/20: 6m
    2011/07/21: 1m 57s
    2011/07/22: 2h 13m
    2011/07/24: 3m 50s

            More downtime yesterday:
            Code:
            2011/08/17: 5m
This was minor, but I'm just trying to capture the overall stability of this box here.

It's always good to hear from you, syownet but I hate to hear you are having so much trouble with SC300. It is also disappointing that we haven't heard back from RSP. Milen was always much more responsive.

                Louisa are you listening?

                    Hello,

                    Thank you for contacting us.

Currently server sc300 is not experiencing any outages on our end. When you experience a problem, please open a trouble ticket so we can provide you with the proper assistance and find the source of the connectivity issues you are having.

                      Hi Louisa,

The above outages are tracked by a reliable monitoring service, not access from my own PC. An outage is only identified when access from multiple locations is detected to confirm that it is an outage and not a local network issue.

                        Hello,

I consulted with our system administrators and the information they provided is that there are short recurring outages between the whole Australian network and other countries. The problem is not in the network of the data centre itself, but rather the ISPs and the network structure in the country. The Australian servers are best used when your website visitors and clients are from Australia.

Having this information in mind, the problem is not server-side nor even in the Data Centre, but rather nation-wide, and we have no way of affecting that.

                          Hi Louisa,

The traceroutes from each failure monitored show there being no issue with the Australian national network since. At the time of each failure the monitoring nodes are able to get into the australian network, just not to the actual server.

Some of the downtimes also show the server refusing connections rather than timing out. i.e. the server is there, but port 80 is closed.

Can you please email or PM me more details on this ? On 31 of August we started monitoring the AU server using siteuptime and this is what we got so far based on 2 minutes interval check:

Details on the outages for Sept:
