  • Current clients need to Renew to benefit from new upgrade

    Hi there,

    I've had an interesting time reading the posts and trying to upgrade my accounts to the new offerings [thanks for the great increases, RSP!!!]. I have two corporate accounts and a business account, as well as many clients using the Business accounts.

    I was able to have my own Business account upgraded, which required a move from SS18 to SS44, and did have some hiccups, but all appears to be well now.

    I have also tried to have my two corporate accounts upgraded via their Control Panel 24/7 support to the new:

    * 25GB disk space
    * 400Gb traffic
    * 30 domains

    I got this messages:

    Hello, Since your account is on one of our older servers, we must migrate it to a new one before we can add the new services to the account. To do this, open a support ticket from the hosting control panel, not from the reseller panel and our technical department will proceed with it.
    So far so good.

    One was upgraded without question. When I enquired via my Reseller Control Panel for the second one, imagine my surprise when I read this message received:

    One thing that me and my colleague forgot to mention is that you need to renew your account before it is transfered to one of our new servers.
    and
    Note, that the new features offer is only for new users, who signed up with us or renewed their plans after 1 Nov 2006.
    So I'm being asked to 'renew' my hosting before it's due.

    Has this affected anyone else?

    hi, yes I had a similar issue. I was told I could uprade my account, but then when I asked for the upgrade, I was then told to renew. . 3 accounts are renewed, but I have only updated 1 so far. I try to wait till the accounts need the new perimeters before changng them,

        WebGirl, you need to renew an older web hosting account in order to take advantage of the increased plan parameters. By renewing the account, another year is added to the account expiration date, so you do not loose the account validity period for which you have already paid. This way you and your clients have a choice, whether to renew the account now or wait for the account to come close to its expiration date before renewing it, depending on how necessary are the additional account features for you or each of your clients.

          Just out of intrest, if an account is renewed before the expiration date, what happens to the domain name renewal? Is this renewed for another year also?

            The Loon, it depends on the domain name. If the domain name was ordered as a "free" domain name together with the web hosting account, it will be renewed for a year as well. If the domain name was registered as a web hosting account upgrade, the client will have the choice to renew the domain either with the web hosting account renewal or later, when the domain name is close to expiration.
