Domain name only registration

Hi,

Just wondering- I recently had someone ask me to register a domain name only, to point towards their existing site. Is this possible with Resellerspanel services, or does everyone also have to purchase hosting with a domain?

No, you have to order hosting along with domains. You cant order them seperately. I recently asked this question of a support rep via RSP CP and was told that they are working on having domains registered seperately instead of ordering both a domain and hosting account, but I don't know when this is going to happen. Milen or someone else might know the answer to that, though.

I get asked this question by clients all the time. I think the panel can exploit the domain name registration market and urge them to implement as soon as possible.

The reply I usually get about suggestions is "we will pass this on to our marketing department" and nothing really happens, although quite often than not the technicalities in terms of implementation can be quite complicated.

I guess one solution is to (if you have your own hosting account) register the domain yourself, park it and redirect it to their existing site.

yeah,or get any domain reseller plan with other registrar and register it.

For now you can register domain names only through your reseller control panel. Of course this means that you will have to find a way to bill the customer yourself.
The domain name only registrations will be available when other projects are completed such as the support of recurring and consequently monthly payments. When exactly will this happen - impossible to say since our developers usually work on several projects in the same time and priority changes on the fly. Good for reacting quickly on various issues bad for keeping deadlines.
