Hi there

I have client who wishes to pay for 2 years or possibly 3 initially rather than just 12 months, is it possible to do this through the free resellers panel? either manually or some other way?

Yes this is possible. The client can simply renew the plan 2 or 3 times. Unfortunately there is not an option to offer payments for 2 or 3 years at once at this point.
