  • Domain backorder possible for someone who's not yet a client?

    Hi,

Is it possible for someone who's not yet a client to backorder a domain name? I think that is a great way to get new clients but I can't see how, since it seems you need at least a domain manager account to do it.

I tried doing it via the demo account. That seems to me like a good way to get them in since I can market it "Check expiring domains now", but when I tried, it said "Error during wallet refill".

There is an upfront cost associated with backordering a domain ($20 I think) and there is no guarantee that you will get it. The amount cant be refunded.

If the client cant do it, but you are keen on getting the domain, why not back order it yourself? You can ask support to transfer the domain into a domain hosting account and then have the client upgrade the account as and when they wish.
