    FF v1.0.3

Oh and to your earlier CSS PM...
This site has a list of sites using CSS for layouts. If you check the "big sites" and the "well designed" list... It should provide inspiration and ideas.

Virtual City, USA — While the Web design community has embraced CSS with clean XHTML mark up for layouts, many sites continue to use tables, which are not accessible for screen readers and handheld devices. The CSS Collection is a testament to what can be done with CSS instead of tables. Think of CSS sites ... Read more

(sorry, just remembered that you PM'd and I'm so swamped today with new clients and sales calls - wasn't ignoring you.)

                You're kidding me, right?
Apparently you've not had much experience with bots, and their often sneeky ways? Some bots are good, some are bad. The info and link posted above is just some basic info on how to decipher what one wishes to allow on their web site, and what not. Think of it as a valve, or a way to help control what comes into your web site, is all. Obviously not everything can be limited, or controlled, but there are some bad bots that hit a web site, or page on said web site that take advantage of the way the site is set up and the bad ones will hit constantly, and with a voracious appetite. And even open said web site/page to other unwanted activities. Might I suggest roboba, you learn what bots can and can't do? The more you know the better informed you'll become.

There's alot of info on the web regarding Robots. Google some info on it, and you might be surprised at the findings.

Yes I've had plenty of experience on bots flooding a very popular phpBB forum of mine. They're really tricky and a little hard to get rid of.

                    M.S. Oldie

Another oldie, but a goody. (?) (Und I may be showing my age with this one, but oh well - no worries)

Who here can rememember those little Microsoft talking agents that once were popular from the very start of Windows? A fellow reseller I visited very early this year, had one put on his web site. Had a good laugh and a chat over that one.

Visit this web site for a trip down memory lane.

And for those of you that are too young to know, or are new to the computing realm, ya, they were once considered kewl. *heh

LOL I should have said why do you want to stop the SEARCH bots??

I know about bad bots, but the funny thing about bad bots is they don't follow the rules. So why make rules? Retorical question!

PS I still think the Microsoft Agents are Kewl........

I've seen others here asking about setting up an affiliate program of their own & I've found a way to do it.
                          • first assign unique ID numbers to all affiliates - I'll use 1117 for my examples here
                          • select which url you will use for the affiliate links - I'll use http://forum.resellerspanel.com
                          • at the end of the url add: a question mark, a space then the unique code "? 1117"
                          • sign up for a good tracker, there are a couple of really good free ones I know about. www.statcounter.com and http://goldstats.net/members
                          • after you have set up your account - If you are going with the free version - I'd recommend focusing on your entry page & the order page.- add the code provided from your tracker to your pages.
                          • When you get a sale, you can tell exactly which affiliate link the customer came from
If you use statcounter - the free account holds a record of your last 100 hits - click PATH to look for the referal urls & completed sales. This one has an option to make your tracker look like a hit counter - or you can make it invisible & set it to not track your hits.

If you use goldstats - it holds your complete stats for the previous week. This tracker adds a banner to the bottom of all pages you add it to. (goldstats is down right at the moment I'm posting this ... but normally it isn't page cannot be displayed lol)

This is what your code would look like:
                          Code:
                          [size=1][color=#9900ff]
                          <a[/color][/size][size=1][color=#0000c0] href="[/color][/size][size=1][url="http://forum.resellerspanel.com/? 1117"]http://forum.resellerspanel.com? 1117[/url][/size][size=1][color=#0000c0]" target=[/color][/size][size=1]"_blank"[/size][size=1][color=#9900ff]> <img[/color][/size][size=1][color=#0000c0]src="[/color][/size][size=1][url="http://forum.resellerspanel.com/reseller_hosting_files/reseller_hosting_logo.jpg"]http://forum.resellerspanel.com/reseller_hosting_files/reseller_hosting_logo.jpg[/url][/size][size=1][color=#0000c0]"[/color][/size][size=1][color=#9900ff]></a>

                          [/color][/size]
Your referal link will look like this:
                          http://forum.resellerspanel.com? 1117

When someone clicks on the banner it would look like:
http://forum.resellerspanel.com?%201117 in their address bar & in your tracker. The last 4 characters telling you the affiliate number.

Map your site the easy way

For anyone designing websites, here's something to give you a jump start on a time consuming process...

I was hoping there would be an extension for DW, but didn't have any luck finding one, but found this handy piece of software for automating the creation process

                            http://www.coffeecup.com/sitemapper/

.... and as of this posting, it's free, and hopefully stays that way.

I had do make some changes and reformatted things ever so slightly, mainly converting things over into structured ul lists, but in general here is one I just created for one of my sites... sorry, I should have timed it, but certainly took me less than 20 minutes.... and if I would have used it without changes... less than 5 minutes....

                            http://www.viruspyware.info/sitemap.htm

add sitemaps to your sites... they are good for your visitors and search engines

identity, have you tried this with the more mature dynamic sites or will this only work for static page sites?

Have you tested it out yet? I'm looking for a nifty site mapper that will map more flexible sites that are created via PHP, ASP, or CFM and a database.

For dynamic, you'll have to find another route... I saw some "server resident" site mapping tools that would be more ideal as they update in real time and I think are especially for dynamic sites.

This actually builds the map off your local copy. It is very basic, very limited, but any tool that is free and that helps with a mundane, time consuming task works for me! I'm still keeping my eyes open for a more robust solution, but in the meantime, this will do the trick.

I'm still holding out that an extension will be developed for DW, or perhaps with the next upgrade, but of course that means....$$$$$$
